Whether you love it or hate it, the new Sony VAIO VPCW221AX Billabong series netbook is one netbook that is hard to ignore. One of the highlights of this netbook is its bold and catchy design on its external case that looks like it has been hand brushed with three bold colors (black, blue and yellow). Personally, I find this look to be quite refreshing and I suspect it would be good enough of a reason to steer many netbook users to make this purchase.
Besides the bold exterior, another noteworthy feature on the Sony VAIO VPCW221AX/Z would be its processor. This netbook comes with an Intel Atom N470 Processor (1.83Ghz) that is a step above many conventional netbooks in the market (which still uses the Intel Atom N450 processor). For memory, this model has 1GB of DDR2 RAM and it also comes with a 250GB hard drive for storage.
Multimedia wise, the Sony VAIO VPCW221AX/Z comes with a 10.1-inch HD display. The netbook also supports HD audio with its Intel HD Audio processor. Then there is also a host of high-end netbook features such as its Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, Wireless-N Wi-Fi, and an array of standard features such as a memory card reader, built-in microphone and web cam. The battery on this model can last up to 8 hours on a single charge.
Overall, the Sony VAIO VPCW221AX/Z netbook model is pretty much a standard netbook model (with the N470 processor and Billabong design aside). At the time of writing, the netbook is selling at just around $499 per unit, which is a little on the steep side for a netbook of this class. Nevertheless, if you have a little extra cash to spare and just can't get over its attention grabbing design, this model would make a pretty good buy.
