HP Laptop Reviews - The HP Envy 14-1010NR Laptop

In scanning the numerous laptop reviews out there, the HP Envy 14-1010NR comes up a lot. It turns out that this is a popular laptop after all, and it's not just the Beats Audio that has people lining up over this one.

The Specs:

Looking at the laptop reviews can be exhausting, especially with so much information out there. That's why we've narrowed the HP Envy 14-1010NR to its basic components for ease of discovery. Under the hood, this unit packs a slew of goodies:

·2.4GHz Intel Core i5-450M processor with Turbo Boost Technology
·6GB of DDR3 RAM
·500GB SATA hard drive at 7200rpm
·14.50-inch display with HD BrightView Infinity LED

Digging In:

Most laptop reviews are careful to highlight the presence of Beats Audio with this HP Envy 14-1010NR, so it is worth a look (or a listen) to check out just how revolutionary this feature is. Accessing Beats Audio is easy with a simple press of the keyboard's "function" key together with the B key.

Once this is done, you can scope the full range of crisp, clear studio-quality sound out of Beats Audio. Let's just say this: there's a reason Dr. Dre's slapped his name on this puppy.

Sleek and Sexy:

Along with Beats Audio and those other hot features, the HP Envy 14-1010NR is just a sexy-looking unit. It is finished with laser-etched aluminum in carbon relic, which is essentially just a fancy way of saying that the HP Envy 14 looks pretty sleek.

This unit is lightweight, too, clocking in at just a nudge over five pounds. For all the juice under the hood and all the thunder from Beats Audio, that's a pretty good weight when you think about it. It's 14.01 inches across, too, so you have a good indication of just how portable this portable laptop really is.

In terms of connectivity, it is wi-fi ready (802.11a/b/g/n), 4 USB ports, a 5-in-1 memory card reader, a HDMI output, a microphone jack and several other standard connectors.

Design: The Toshiba Satellite A505-S6973 weighs at 6.5 pounds and measures at 15.1 x 10.2 x 1.61 inches. It has a very stylish look, complete with a high-gloss black onyx finish (I tested the black one). It has a very sophisticated and expensive overall look. Like many 16-inch laptops, it comes with a full keyboard complete with a number pad. Below the touch pad are two huge click buttons that makes that touch pad really easy to use.

Features & Performance: When you use the Toshiba Satellite A505-S6973, the first thing that you will notice is its gorgeous LCD display. It has a 16:9 ratio and 1266 x 768 in resolution. The screen also has an anti- glare feature so there will be no problems viewing even in bright ambient lighting. The powerful Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X5400MHD also adds to your viewing pleasure.

Another feature worth mentioning is its amazing Harman Kardon speakers. I never believed that a laptop could function without external speakers until this model came along. The audio was loud and clear enough that you can use it to watch an entire movie without the need of using external speakers.

All in all, the Toshiba Satellite A505-S6973 will make a great laptop, whether you are looking for one for work or play. The great video/audio playback and powerful specs makes it a great all-rounder. The 4GB of RAM (max of 8GB) and 500GB hard drive will satisfy even the most hardcore of laptop users.
